Spin

Spin follows Rhea, an Indian-American teen, who discovers her passion for DJ-ing, combining elements of her heritage and the world around her.
As the lead Motion Graphics Designer, I designed and animated for all of the devices and screens seen throughout the film. I was in charge of designing cohesive and modern fictional phone and computer UIs as well as detailed video, music and code editing programs to be used for live on-set playback.
I worked closely with the composer to ensure the on-set DJ-ing programs I created visually matched up with the music written for the film to provide realistic references for the actors.
Director: Manjari Makijany
Client: Disney+
STEM Coding Class
I designed an assortment of front and back-end coding projects that the students were showcasing for presentations.
This included a flying pizza drone and Rhea's restaurant analytics project. I worked closely with the director and a coding consultant to ensure that the code used for the respective coding projects reflected real-world code syntax.
Rhea's Bedroom Setup
The heart of Rhea's operations, her bedroom desk setup was where she built her website and honed her DJ skills.
I designed the computer UI, realistic file browser, web browser, video editing, and music editing programs that she interacts with.
DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) Software
Rhea and Max bond as she showcases what she's been putting together on this music editing program. I attempted to build the music editing program with a high level of realism to ensure that it wouldn't distract from the narrative of the scene.
DJ-ing Program
For the final DJ performances by Max and Rhea, I built on-set apps that would visually match up with the music created by the composer to provide the actors with a set up that was as realistic as possible.
Social Media & Phone Apps
Phones play an integral part throughout the film, as characters scroll social media, watch live social videos from their friends, text, call and record footage for DJ sets. All of these apps were built to play live on set and be interactive for the actors.
